Students in the Ecobiology class applied their studies of ecological relationships, abiotic and biotic factors, and desert adaptations and natural selection firsthand by spending the day exploring Saguaro National Park East. Walking in the desert provides many unplanned and spontaneous teachable moments, opportunities for discovery, and a natural synthesis of material that is learned in the classroom. Learning how to prepare and eat lots of edible foods along the way is always fun, too!
