Urban Horticulture Class 2021-22

This year’s 9th graders have worked hard to bring the school’s gardens back to an orderly state after this summer’s heavy rainfall. The gardens were looking extremely lush, which meant lots of weeding and tending needed to be done. In addition, with the Farm-to-Kitchen program back in full swing, there was lots of seed starting and harvesting to do as well, so that the kitchen could be supplied with a continuous stream of healthy, organic produce. Beyond simply working and maintaining the gardens though, the students learned valuable lessons in teamwork, problem-solving, and how to grow healthy, sustainable food.
