Spring at Sky Islands started off with a student-driven school-wide project to enhance our recycling and composting program. Students in the Health class spent time outdoors exercising and enjoying the cool early spring air (and having lots of fun), and students in the art classes created a gallery and art show of the school calendars, napkins, and other individual pieces they made. The piano in the Cafegymatorium got a tune up, and things were looking pretty good overall… until Spring Break came, and the spread of COVID-19 forced Sky Islands to switch to a ‘curriculum in place’ for the fourth quarter. Students came to the school to pick up books and other materials, which they used in combination with online coursework until the end of the year. It was a very difficult and trying time for everyone, but the students made the best of it and all look forward to returning to a hopefully more normal 2020-21 school year!
