Students in the Innovative Design class have been very busy on two major design challenges: building a container that can safely protect an egg (from our own chickens, which ups the stakes!) from a fall, and creating a model siege weapon that could launch a tennis ball both accurately and far. The siege weapon project had two components: 1) The engineering design notebook, in which they documented all their brainstorming ideas, made orthographic and isometric drawings of their model, noted any iterations to their design, and evaluated any practice launches; and 2) The siege weapon model itself. On Wednesday, December 19th, they all tested their models in front of the entire school. The winning team launched a tennis ball just over 47 feet!
