Sky Islands Recognized at Sears Park Dedication Ceremony

Sky Islands High School has officially adopted nearby Sears Park since 2013, and in that time the school has helped install a disc golf course, kept the park clean and free of graffiti, and helped to encourage the neighborhood to reclaim the park for the community. This spring, Sky Islands was formally and officially recognized by Tucson Clean and Beautiful and Tucson Parks and Recreation for their adoption of the park. There was a formal ceremony to congratulate the school on the clear improvement of the park’s appearance and usage, and members of the student body and community also had the chance to speak about how things have changed for the better since the park came under the school’s adoption.
