Field Studies Water Quality Testing Project

Students in the Field Studies class spent the spring semester studying the parameters used to measure the quality of water, and then applied what they learned by collecting real data in the field. Students collected, measured, and compared data on water quality at three different sites: the Sky Islands koi pond and aquaponics system, Sabino Creek, and the Sweetwater Wetlands. Students measured temperature, pH, alkalinity, nitrogen, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, and total dissolved solids. Using this data, they drew conclusions about the quality of water at each site and then presented their findings to the school.
