Intermediate Permaculture Swale Re-discovery

Students from the Intermediate Permaculture class learned about a massive series of earthworks built near northwest Tucson during the Depression era as an experimental attempt to create fertile farmland out of desert soils. These berms and swales were all but forgotten until just recently, when they were re-discovered by permaculture experts looking at satellite footage and saw oases of green amidst the dry desert. Apparently the earthworks worked great at harvesting water- see for yourself!
